Renewal of Kéroul and Taxelco’s pilot project for the adapted taxi service
Back to the news listAfter three months of testing, Kéroul and Taxelco are pleased to announce the renewal of their adapted taxi pilot project until February 1, 2025.
Montreal, Tuesday, October 29, 2024 - After three months of testing, Kéroul and Taxelco are pleased to announce the renewal of their adapted taxi pilot project until February 1, 2025. This partnership, initiated to improve mobility for people with disabilities in the Greater Montreal area, has already demonstrated promising results, underlining the importance of such a service for customers with disabilities.
A necessary and efficient service
In the first three months of the pilot project, the results are clear: the demand for this type of service is there. Compared to periods outside the pilot project, the number of trips has tripled, confirming the increased need for flexibility and mobility for people with disabilities. Taxelco, with its expertise, was able to offer a service that lived up to expectations, achieving a punctuality rate of over 90%.
The project is renewed with confidence
Encouraged by these results, the two organizations have decided to extend the pilot project. Kéroul and Taxelco are convinced that they will be able to obtain the necessary financial support from the relevant authorities to perpetuate and extend this service. This funding will ensure that demand is fully met and that the quality of the service is guaranteed over the long term.
“Mobility is a key factor in the inclusion of people with disabilities. Offering an adapted taxi service expands transportation options, not only for residents of the Greater Montreal area, but also for tourists looking for an accessible experience. This project complements the paratransit service already in place, and contributes to making the city more welcoming and accessible to all,” said Isabelle Ducharme, President of Kéroul's Board of Directors.
The service promise will remain the same:
- An adapted taxi available in less than an hour in the Greater Montreal area: until October 10, 2024, users will benefit from accessible transportation in less than an hour, at the same fare as a regular taximeter ride, in Montreal and the North and South shore.
- Easy and convenient booking by phone, on the teo.cab website or on the Téo mobile app: bookings can be made via a dedicated phone number, 514-322-5160 option #5. Alternatively, users can select the " Adapted Vehicle " option available on the Téo mobile application or book online at teo.cab, ensuring a smooth and efficient user experience.
