Description

The Lachine Canal National Historic Site is a 14km trail that runs alongside the Lachine Canal.

There are several footbridges to cross from one side of the canal to the other. They are about 1m wide.

There are a few interpretive signs on the trail, with room to manoeuvre in front of them, 1.25 m high.

Sometimes the benches have armrests on either side, sometimes none at all. They are located on concrete slabs, sometimes with a threshold of around 3cm.

Walking trail: rest area at every 500 m

Additional information

The Lachine Canal does not offer any adapted equipment rental services on site, for either cycling or water sports.

In some places, the trail slope is very steep (around 10%).

Most of the rest areas are set back from the trail, so you have to move around on the grass to access them.

The access to cross the locks directly is inaccessible, since the width is minimal, the slope is steep and the ramp threshold is around 4 cm.
