The Accessible Road, even more comprehensive in 2014
Back to the press releases listThe ninth edition of The Accessible Road offers even more products and services in its new magazine and on its Web site.
“This year, the Gaspésie and Bas-Saint-Laurent regions have been added to The Accessible Road’s existing network, for a total of 18 tourist regions,” announced André Leclerc, Kéroul's President and CEO, the organization behind the Road. “We are very proud of our hard work during the Road’s development, and our goal this year is to provide an informative, yet attractive magazine."
The Accessible Road, which is presented as a magazine rather than a technical directory, was designed to pique people’s interest in discovering Québec in all its glory and originality. It offers two tourist routes—a “nature” route with camping, overnights in a B&B or a yurt; and a more cultural route, with high-class hotel accommodations. Other themes are also suggested, for example agrotourism, bicycles paths, the great outdoors, the St. Lawrence River and religious tourism.
The magazine also invites people to explore TheAccessibleRoad.com, which features 270 lodging and tourist attractions whose staff has been trained on accommodating disabled persons. Among the 2014 features (list appended), aside from the Gaspésie and Bas Saint Laurent regions, are hotels, inns, cottages and camping sites, as well as the Grand Cru, a majestic boat with accessible onboard bathrooms for a cruise on Lake Memphremagog. This abundantly illustrated site also includes practical photos so people can see, for example, access to bathrooms in accommodation establishments, in addition to a travel diary that can be used to create a personal vacation itinerary!
The 2014 edition of The Accessible Road was made possible thanks to the collaboration of Canada Economic Development, Tourisme Québec, Aéroports de Montréal, ATR associées du Québec with the participation of several regional tourism associations.
The Accessible Road is a product created by Kéroul, whose own Web site, www.keroul.qc.ca, offers a search engine for accessible tourist sites and a Services for travelers tab with information on free travel and admission for accompanying persons, personal assistance services, travel links and a list of travel agents trained by Kéroul to meet the specific needs of persons with restricted physical ability.
